Wireform Consulting
Shape the right outcome. Build the path. Make it real.
Transformation often begins with the destination already assumed. We test whether it's the right one, then design a path the organisation can actually deliver.
Site under constructionThe new site is still being shaped — much like everything else we do here. In the meantime, reach out directly and we'll pick up the conversation from there.
More to come
New ventures and new directions
Standing up something that doesn't exist yet: a new service, a new operating model, a new business inside an existing one. Working out what it should be, what it will take, and how to get it into the world.
Direction and design
Working out what is really needed, what the right outcome looks like, and how to reach it from where you actually are.
Scoping and scaling
Turning a direction into something deliverable, in stages that hold up under real conditions.
Programme and project health checks
An honest read on whether it is going to land, what is getting in the way, and what to change.
Delivery support
Hands on, alongside your team, until it is real.
A wireform is a piece of wire deliberately shaped to perform a specific function within something larger. It might support, connect, guide or enable; its form is determined by what the wider system needs it to do.
That is how we approach change. We start with what is already there: the strengths, the people, the technology, the constraints, the possibilities. Then we find the right shape for what comes next, and translate it into something achievable, scalable and grounded in the real world.
We don't take a predetermined destination and manage towards it. We step back far enough to see what is actually needed, then build the path to it.
A single wireform with eight bends, shaped into a figure eight. It stands for the New Zealand Number 8 wire tradition of inventing with whatever is to hand, the eight people in our family, and the fact that we are both wired a little differently. That last one is much of why unfamiliar territory suits us so well.
Wireform is Ara and Aaron McLaughlin. We are expert generalists who think in systems. We do our best work where there isn't a map yet: building something that doesn't exist, or untangling something that has stalled because nobody can see the whole of it.
We generate options other people haven't considered, then test them hard before recommending one. Between us we cover the full breadth of organisational transformation — strategy, operating models, ways of working, capability, governance, delivery and technology — and overlap heavily, so neither of us is a single point of failure.
We work across government, education, corporate and SME. The context changes more than the problem does.
